The Anticimex's bedbug treatment is based on the application of heat and allows us eradicate them completely. By applying dry steam or subjecting the infested materials to a constant temperature of 52ºC, all phases of the insect (eggs, nymphs and adults) are eliminated. Conversely, biocides are unable to kill bedbug eggs.

  • What should I do with sheets and other textiles?

Washing textiles at a high temperature is a very efficient way to control the bed bugs. It is recommended to wash the clothes at 55°-60° and then tumble dry for 30 minutes . Clothes that you cannot wash at home should be taken to the dry cleaner or laundromat. It is best to inform things about the situation. Textiles that do not tolerate high temperatures can be frozen (minimum -18°) for at least four days.

  • Are mattress covers useful against bed bugs?

Anti-bed bug covers over mattresses are washable, breathable and impervious to bites. Its main purpose is to protect the mattress by preventing the insects from nesting and getting in and out of the mattress. Thanks to the protective cover, there is no need to buy a new mattress in the event of a bed bug infestation.

  • Do bed bugs transmit diseases to humans?

To date, there is no evidence of bed bug transmission of diseases to humans.

  • Can bed bugs fly or jump off the floor on the bed?

No. The physiology of a bed bug is not designed for jumping or flying. They do not have specially designed hind legs (like fleas) or wings. They are crawling insects.

  • Are dogs suitable for tracking down bed bugs?

Yes. Dogs that have been trained to detect bed bugs are able to identify the insect in all of its developmental stages (egg, nymph, adult). One advantage of dogs is that they can inspect a number of rooms in a short amount of time.
